Default Fuel pump replacement

It looks like my fuel pump bit the dust. After watching rev Sam video, I just don't feel comfortable doing that myself. Fuel, sparks, ehhhh, no.
So I have a good independent jaguar mechanic and I'm wondering what is a reasonable estimate for this job would be. He says he's changed dozens as this seems to be an issue with jags. It's a 2002 XK8

At the same time, when the flat bed towtruck came and picked up my car, I really protested and demanded they send someone experienced in moving lowered and body kitted cars. They assured me they would. And of course after watching him I knew this wasn't going to go as expected. Needless to say, I now have a cracked and damaged front spoiler. Working on triple A to be covered for damages. The idiot told them it was MY!!!!! Fault!!!

What a shame, you have had some really bad luck lately.
The pump should run you $250-300 US (PN#C2N3866 ) plus 2-3 hours labor.

Yeah, it's wearing me out.
He quoted me around 600 because the harness got fried too and now the gage reads 3/4 tank. Says that happens sometimes.
I need a vacation from this car.

Just a thought, but if your harness got fried are you sure that the pump needs replacing? I would see about repairing the harness first and then check the pump.

At least you gave us an idea of the problem in the posts title shame you forgot what car you drive.

Please when posting use titles that give an idea of the problem (you did thxs) but also include the model/year/miles as your fuel pump could be one of many and depending on the model/yr you may or may not need to remove the fuel tank.

Coupes pre 2002 you can take both pumps (note R's have two) out via the hole what houses the speaker on the back shelf.

I did both of mine used Bosch pumps $70 each on ebay.

Perhaps Phil is like me, with all the details on his signature, but when using the mobile site the signature isn't appended like we expect. It isn't obvious when creating the post.

However, simonallen is making excellent suggestion, covering that very lapse in the mobile site programming.

Best to all! I love This forum.

Mine is also in the shop for a fuel pump replacement. What should it cost from an indy Jag shop? They have had it for a couple of weeks and have not given me a price yet.

Wow, couple of weeks? Mine was in shop for one day, about $1100 covered new pump and harness.

I'd be a little nervous. 2 weeks and not even a price guesstimate? Might be time to think about using another shop.

That's the problem I think. I post most things from iPhone or iPad.

No, he's just really behind and the day I took it in, we had a crippling winter storm. Been closed three days but he's usually fast and also working on a steering leak as well. He's fitting it.
I went over to check on it and it definitely has to have the tank removed. He's always fair and has done a great job in the past. Also, right now I'm really upset with the tow damage so I'd rather not see it for a while!!
