when i put foot down theres not much acceleration. and it says poor performance on dash display. i was think of fuel pressure regulator but thought i would ask first if this is a common problem. its a 2000 xk8 4.0 v8 thanks

 

many possible contributing factors...plugs, coils, throttle body, air leak, plugged part load breather...etc. OBD codes would narrow it down quite a bit. If you read all of the 'restricted' performance threads (also read all the FAQ linked threads) you'll start to learn about the engine's quirks.
