Gap in between VVT and intake cam sprocket with 4 bolt 4.0 97 XK8
So I just replaced guides tensioners primary and secondary and pulleys few valves and a head cause valve seats fell. 4 on drivers side.anyway after resembley I noticed a very small gap between VVT and sprocket and no matter how tightend it it won't close completely and now I'm showing p1396 any tips on getting it seated properly
The engine we had was an AJ27, so that didn't help. However, the same rules do apply. Unfortunately, it would require to take it back apart. There's a fiber ring that's attached to a 'bush carrier' (what a sophisticated name for a part, it says that in the Jag manual), that carrier sounds like it needs taken off and insert the fiber ring end in first.
Well the aj26 and aj27 have different bush carriers and vvts and I have not seen any fiber ring in the vvt so I think we're on different page I'm talking about the place where vvt bolts to cam sprocket with the 4 bolts and on the aj27 it's got 5 bolt pattern I think but I've got a gap between the two and I have tried vise grips and clamps and bought new bolts cause I snapped head off old ones anyway I'm pulling cam today cause I don't think I want to replace anymore valves or heads I can hear chain lash and its idles rough on bank b and I'm getting code p1387 I think it is. But I know it's for bank b vvt so I would love some pictures from the inside of the vvt so I can put it together properly spring in correct direction and so on
