Just a update and FYI. instrument gauge cluster repair still works like a champ plus no more drained car battery issues. The car got driven very little, half the time I tried to drive it the battery would need a jump. The instrument gauge cluster service repair that I had done was well worth it just to stop the dead battery issues let alone all the fixes they had done with it.

It is now 6/13/2017 Just wanted to say that the instrument gauge cluster has not given me any issues at all. Car may sit for a week or two and the battery is still charged!

Hello, I am new here. I have a 2000 XKR with 130,000 miles. It has many of the same symptoms that yours had. I have learned alot from reading your thread, especially the trick to get the car out of park. That is a major point because I cannot even get the car out of a confined parking space without being able to do this! I will try it tomorrow. One symptom I have that you didn't mention is that the turn signal indicators, and the bright headlight indicators in the dash stay on any time the battery is connected. Did you also have those ? Rather than go through all the tests you did I am thinking of sending my instrument cluster off for the rebuild, assuming that service is still available. Glad you got yours repaired. Thanks Jim 2000 XKR

Hey Jim, This had happened 10 years ago?. With that I forget what all the cluster was doing at the time, without rereading my remarks from 2010. I had removed the gauge cluster and sent it off for the "battery drain repair fix"? Thought that I had found the service repair on Ebay? I did a quick search and see some cluster service repairs on ebay but not for a 2000 XKR like you have. I would contact Ebay seller gmspeedometerrepair from Ebay and ask if they offer the service repair for your make and model. He does show some Jaguar models. A Ebay search of 2002 -2003 JAGUAR X-TYPE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPAIR SERVICE, REBUILD and you will see him. Sure they can fix yours. My cluster still works great today. I do have a cluster bulb that needs replaced....I had drove the car without the cluster in it for a week or so while it was sent off for repairs.. I found another online Jaguar cluster repair place Jaguar 2000 - 2005 Gauge Cluster Repair - ASAP Speedo - Speedometer Repair - ABS Module Repair but they wanted $350.00 to do the same repair. Heck they may get your cluster and send it off for $120.00 repairs to the other guy on Ebay? And profit $200.00 off the repair. Good luck. Glad I had done it.
As far as your high beam light staying on on the cluster are you able to turn the headlight from high to low? Headlights are working as they should, just not on the cluster? And on your turn signal lights staying on the gauge cluster, are all your signal bulbs, marker lights working?

Thanks for the referrals, I will check these out, the $120 guys of course. I am going to see if there is a youtube video that shows how to remove the cluster. Jim

Not a very clear video. I lowed my steering column all the way down before unhooking the battery.
