Default Gearbox Fault 1997 XK8

I've had an intermittent GEARBOX FAULT and code for the last year which up til now has been fixable by re-starting the engine. However, now it is not clearing, and before I get into major blood-and-guts work, I'm thinking that the selector switch sensors are probably dirty or a bit corroded. I've performed all the easy fixes (e.g. battery disconnect, etc) recommended on similar posts on the forum. I can't find my JTTS or the purported JTTS download on the forum website. Does anyone know how to remove the switch or know whether the sensors can be cleaned, or know of a youtube video that shows this? Thanks!
