Default gearbox top up problem

I think i am low on fluid on my 2000 xk8 4 litre When i brake hard or corner hard transmission looses drive for a second or two then all is good again .I tried to top up the gearbox with the engine warm and running but when i remove the filler plug fluid pours out not allowing me to put anymore in . What am i doing wrong as car is now worse ?? Thanks

I fill/check the ZF 5HP24 cold (30 Centigrade) because warmer is a lower fluid level.

I start the process BELOW 30 so the level is correct AT 30.

Is it just the traction control engaging ?

You can turn that off to verify it’s not what you are experiencing.

The pump in your transmission may be failing. Are there any codes from the TCM?
