The guy sits alone in front in his coat and cap, while the two woman sit bare-armed in the back with bugs in their teeth. Looks like a fantasy for a number of reasons

Be more fun to try to cuddle together in the car...

Hey wait a minute ... you can't see into the cabin ... there's two more in the cabin. One is perched on the driveshaft tunnel. So, that's FOUR altogether. Maybe that's why they called it a "dickey seat"

Yep

But come to think of it ... the idea would still work ... except for the requirement for shoulder belts, etc.

It is far safer to be "thrown clear" and when the camera pans, you can stand at the top of the cliff, looking over the fiery wreckage while having a smoke.

One slight flaw - the boot opens the wrong way - and I always reckoned you as someone who thought things out......

Already saw that

The boot opened the same way on the MGA. The change comes in the conversion kit from the vendor.

If it had been easy, there would not have been a kit. No pain, no gain.

What about the edict that "thou shall not promote smoking in movies"? (exhales a plume of smoke ...)

So, James goes down with the car locked into the cabin, while lithe spare companion gets thrown clear and lives to spy another day?

Hmmm ... the next script written one post at a time on JF ...
