Getting a true radio code - RESOLVED
After taking my XK8 out of storage, I found that I had to input a radio code to unlock the stereo. I didn't have it . To save time I logged on to an online provider to get the radio code in order to save a drive to a dealer. Well, big mistake they sent the wrong code , now the radio is locked up for 4 hours. When I emailed them back they asked me to remove the radio photograph all 4 sides etc, etc,. How about a refund .....silence. I phoned the Jag dealer where the car was bought in 2001 within minutes I had the code free.
My point is, sometimes the dealership is the only way to go to solve some of these cars quirky mysteries. There are plenty of shady characters trying to take advantage those who think shortcuts offer a real solution.

This is a regular issue for UK owners as all our radios were security coded.
I can't recall an instance of anyone not getting the radio code free of charge from the dealer although some dealers quite reasonably ask for proof of ownership.
