After I finished my front shock strut overhaul I had left over some pretty good used upper mounts. If I had known they were that good I wouldn't have bought new ones to install. Shortly there after I offered them to anyone that wanted them for free. I got one response. But, as usual enough time had gone buy I couldn't find the darn things. Thought I had thrown them away since I wasn't going to need them again. Well, I was cleaning out my airplane hangar and found them right where I put them so they wouldn't get lost. They are available to anyone that wants them just pay the shipping. You can send me a PM and I'll have them on the way. You can see what they look like in the post listed below.

Even though they still "look" good, I wouldn't re-use them. The original shock mounts on my wife's 2006 XK8 also "looked" good when Wayne and I replaced the shocks (rears in October 2014, fronts in January 2016) but for as big a job as this is, it's just too much of a risk not to replace the now-very-old shock mounts when you're in there....

 

well I would love to have those mounts, if still available.

If the original poster does not respond I too have what appears to be a good set that I will give to someone. These are off wife's 06 XK8 with 65k miles on it. I did not think the mounts were bad but went ahead and got the poly mounts. Now that I have them out I could have reused them.


So anyways same deal as above, you pay shipping and I will send them to you.

How do you like the poly mounts?

 

Timing is everything! 3 days ago I ordered new improved poly upper mounts. Do you notice if it rides harsher or the same? Did you gain any ride height?

 

I am not able to comment on the poly mounts and ride as I am still in the process of putting suspension back together.....waiting for the wishbone poly bushings to arrive from UK....the rubber OEM bushings were all destroyed in getting the fulcrum bolts out.
I suspect that ride height will increase a very small amount as the poly upper shock mounts are thicker than the compressed rubber OEM ones. Hopefully ride harshness will not increase too much as rough areas in roads were already transmitted to the driver far more than my '04 Corvette with sport suspension.
