green bath?
Due to lousy OEM hose quality, the vast majority of XK8 convertibles will probably suffer from the green shower at some point if the car lives long enough. Hot climates with cars baking in the sun seem to exacerbate the problem. Just check for hydraulic fluid leaks in the trunk and under the rear seats when you think of it, and ensure that your fluid is maintained at the proper level in the pump tank....
You should check all your hoses and rams. The hoses to the latch ram is a bit difficult to go but you will be checking both the hoses and ram at the same time. The lift rams and hoses are visible from the back corners of the roof but the bottom hoses are a little hard to see. If you look in the forward part of your rear wheelwells and see a moist spot then chances are you have or had a leak. I will attach a few links that should help.

I should note that the rams can be rebuilt and the aftermarket hoses are better than the factory ones. The link to the ram rebuilds will provide another set of replacement hoses.

Jim,
You are probably good until next spring. Keep a rag in the car for when it happens. Both of my XKs did this at about 10 years. It provides a great opportunity to clean the rest of the interior when you have it out to route the new hoses

To remove the rear seat, there are two nuts to remove under the front edge of the seat bottom before you lift it and slide the seat bottom forward. Then, remove the shoulder belt guides at the top and a couple screws at the bottom before you pull the seat back upwards to remove it.
