Default Hard reset

I have the ABS /traction control/stability control warnings. I have cleaned the senors on each wheel. The warnings didn't go away.

So, I tried a hard reset. Disconnect neg cable, turn on key, touch neg to pos for a few seconds, turn off key, reconnect neg cable.

All trip data was gone as was expected. But the ABS/traction control/stability control warnings were not cleared.

Did I do something wrong?

You've done step one, and wasn't it easy to clean the sensors? It's hard to believe any company has the gall to charge $170 for a dinky sensor.

I would say step two might be to check the resistance in the larger plug on the ABS module to see if any of there are any problem wires going to the 4 sensors.

Gus has a good one page narrative on the ABS Module, including resistance readings, etc. There are some other narratives online that give other resistance readings on the bottom plug to see if the ABS motor is good.

I'm also a member of the ABS/TCM problem code, and my module was fried. I hope to get motivated to put my new (used) module on this weekend, as the weather's pretty good.

Good luck to you.

MR;

Just curious is the speedo still indicating speed?

I ask because some members suggest pulling the #4 fuse to disable the DSC and traction control.

This defeats the 155mph speed limiter.

If the sensors were dirty enough this may have had the same effect.

You are next to the Salt Flats after all and could make a test run.....post the video please.

good luck and cheers,

jj

I won't be going to the salt flats anytime soon! The speedo has been working. I didn't drive it after the hard reset. I thought that would clear the warnings. I wanted to see if they would come back after the hard rest. They did when I started it.

Darn.....next time the sensors get dirty you can take a detour through the Salt Flats....it's hard to find guinea pigs.

I really should have done that when I had the chance all the times I drove cross country to San Francisco right past them....what was I thinking?

cheers,

jj

The technical inspection to run on the salt flats is quite extensive and would require a lot of modifications to a stock production car. Not worth it for me.

Bummer....I always thought they had a couple of open days and if you had a crash helmet you could take a couple of runs.....after signing a couple of miles of releases of course.

Thanks for the info even if it has dashed a cherished childhood dream....

Really?

There is no place to get on the flats without the Federales raining on your parade?

cheers,

jj

It's BLM land so I guess they have jurisdiction.
If you get on the wrong place, you may end up stuck in mud up to your axles! check this site The Bonneville Salt Flats Race track explained at BonnevilleRacing.com

MR;

This is too funny....I grew up in Twinsburg, Ohio.

Obviously I should get back more often if they are growing Valerie Thompson's there.

This doesn't actually sound too difficult to qualify for:

130 - 150 club

Just need a fire extinguisher and loops for the drive shaft....

The only downside is you can't use a rental car, LOL!!

Darn there goes my plan....um Romanik mind if I take yours for a spin some afternoon when you are working? haha.

cheers and thanks,

jj

JJ,

I'm retired. Maybe the local Jag dealer will give us a demo?

Marty Me Too,

Capital suggestion about a demo though....might as well get a new one.

I'll bring my crash helmet.

Happy New Year!

cheers,

jj
