Head Rest Issue on a 2003 XK8
Hi,
I am new to this forum and hope that I can find a resolution to an issue I am having with the drivers head rest.
The head rest goes up and down fine, that is the motor seems to be working just fine. It will not stay down, I can use the button on the side to lower it, but it immediately returns to the most up position there is.
I have tried resetting the driver seat preferences while holding the button with the head rest in the down position, but that does not work either.
Any suggestion??

Seems like the UP button is stuck on. You will have to carefully disassemble the switch pack on that seat and check it out. My understanding is that the switch pack has a form of rubber layer on a circuit board, and that the whole thing can be cleaned and restored. You might have to do a bit of research to make sure you don't break the plastic surround, these older parts are getting harder to find. eBay might have great pictures...

These things break if you just look at them the wrong way!
The diagrams from the Workshop Manual (LH seat illustrated) help understanding how the switchpack is secured.
(double click on the image to enlarge it)
Gently prising between the seat base and the switchpack at the point arrowed in the top diagram will release the rear of the switchpack from where it clips into the housing in the seat base (circled in blue).
The switchpack then slides rearwards to release the tab (circled in red) at the front from a slot in the housing.
