Default Head unit type

Which brand/type of headunit is this? There is a 6 CD changer in the boot/ trunk, and tweeters in doors are marked Harman Kardon. It all sits in a 97 US model.

I think Alpine made the head units. Not sure what the model number of that variant is, but it'll be unique to the XK8. Is there something in particular that you were looking to find out?

Default Connections

I want to add Bluetooth. So the question is if there is an AUX input that is unused. Or if Alpine then I will consider theadapter that plugs in instead of the CD changer. I will have to order from abroad so taking it out just to look at the rear does not appeal as I want to use the car in the meantime meaning I have to put together and take apart a second time.

Hello Per,

That is an alpine unit, I have one in my XJR X300. It has no line in/AUX and I recently temporarily removed it to install an iSimple RadioMod unit which gives you Aux/line in by plugging into your aerial socket. It works quite well has allowed me to plug into the original stereo my Pure DAB/bluetooth/handsfree device which previously was transmitting via FM with poor sound quality. The sound is now much better quality. I preferred this to add unit to boot/trunk that might cancel out the CD-Changer and or require me to route a cable from the DAB/bluetooth unit in the front all the way back there.

Hope this helps,
Nick

Per, the connections on the back of your radio are round connections ( not square DIN type connections). If you want an all inclusive bluetooth module, this one below might be the one. I have not installed this one ( I did the Motorola T605), but this certainly looks like it would work.

The web page has a picture of my head unit, the installation instructions show a slightly different layout head unit. I have taken the chance and ordered it though as this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the tip, I will report here once installation is successful or failed.

Hei fra Tjøme, Per!

Your head unit looks exactly like mine, and I wonder how the kit you ordered works? Experiences?

Works perfect, seamless transition between playing Bluetooth and actual CD1 in changer.
