Neat trick with the invisible ink

AFAIK, the lens is held by a double-sided adhesive gasket which is unobtainium. Clear RTV works well.

Jaguar issued a TSB decades ago.

Not sure I would trust silicone/RTV. You can get a windshield "kit" - it's urethane "rope" in a coil & I believe you can find it as thin as 1/4". Made to stick to glass. Or use a caulking gun tube of windshield urethane, but that shtuff is nasty & gets everywhere. Make sure you have lacquer thinner for cleanup & wear gloves. Also, it's a one-time use as it will set up in the tube after opening it, no matter how you try to seal it. Gather anything & everything you need to glue & use up as much of it as you can.

I used this stuff from Diode Dynamics, apologies for the weird image URL earlier (now fixed) - This stuff works well.

Different car, but I used it successfully to bond the headlamp lenses on the Mk2 Golf back to the reflectors a decade or so ago. I guess the aquarium stuff would be better, although they're still fine, touch wood.

That's the type of shtuff I was talking about. Never seen it packaged just for headlights, though.
