Default Help locating Yaw Rate Sensor

I recently took my 2003 Jaguar XK8 Convertible in for a complete service check, I had a DSC ( Dynamic Stability Control ) Alarm on the dash. Service center told me that I had a bad Yaw Rate Sensor, and quoted me a price of $660.00 for the Sensor and $ 189.00 in labor to install it. My understanding is that this sensor is looked under the J Shifter housing. Is that correct, and has anyone changed one of these out, and if so does anyone have any photos of where it is located, and how difficult it is to get to.

Thank You for any help
Sullair

Someone might want to correct me on this. I've changed one of these on my 06 X-Type Estate and believe that the setup is probably similar with the yaw sensor located directly underneath the J-shifter. Working space is a little tight, but doable. There are posts on here about removing the J-shifter console, after that it's unscrew and remove the old, install the new one and plug it in. Found a used one at a salvage yard on ebay for less than $ 100. Still working fine.

Hope this helps.

Checked the Electrical Guide for Xk8 2000 and yaw rate, or even yaw is never mentioned. I know I have one in my Bmw X3 but I doubt there is one in the X100.

YAW & SAS (steering angle sensor) are part of the DSC/ABS system on 2003-2006 XK8. Yaw Rate Sensor # C2C34671 & SAS # C2N1794. YAW sensor replacement requires the J-Gate shift area removal for access. There were diagrams somewhere while I have researched the DSC/ABS Module problem I am having.

It shows in the 2003 Electrical Guide, located under the centre console, and the SNG catalogue lists it with part # C2C34671 @ US$664.35

Heritage also lists it, but for the S-Type and 2003-2009 XJ? Might be cheaper, even with shipping:

There's one here, stated as coming from a 2006 XK8:

Jaguar made many changes to the X100 over the 10 years it was in production. As such it's always important to use the right wiring diagram for the model year in question. Not so important when you are just randomly commenting on posts, but vital if you are doing work on the car and don't want to literally get your wires crossed.

Its in the center console of my 2005 coupe, remove the box storage under the armrest and use a long star bit to get out the two retaining screws. The two screws go through a small L bracket under each one which is used to hold a wiring connector. I left the bolt in the L bracket and used the bracket to lift up the bolt and then rotated the sensor out from under them. I was experiencing DSC fault with a yaw rate sensor fault when scanned. Yaw value in real time data on the scanner was 65400 somthing at rest not sure if this is the fault but have a used sensor coming and will see. It would read a positive number 0-90 for one direction when driving and a negative 65000 number the other way which cant be right

The Yaw Rate Sensor may be an Ford Part. I cked E-Bay and saw some listed for Jaguar and Ford cars. The parts for the Jaguar had the Blue Oval and a Ford part number. Good possibility this was another area they use identical function (yaw) parts. YAW IS YAW. LKQ priced less than $100

Changed the yaw sensor and abs and dsc faults are gone. The value of the used one also comes in at 65382 or something at rest or turning in one direction and 0-45 or 90 degrees turning in the other direction(not sure what max angle value is. Prior to getting the yaw sensor I cleared all codes, key off, unplugged yaw sensor, started back up and dsc fault remained but abs worked. Upon scanning the yaw value was 0. attached us photos of a yaw sensor I got off ebay and also of mine in the area under the center console armrest storage area once the storage area is removed

Thanks, good write up and pics. This item eluded me when I has the S.A.S problem, but got no code for the YAW Sensor. Appears much easier to gain access. :-) Glad you problem is gone. Had to have my software update to rid of the CEL. Would not clear on its own.
