Default How to clean ambient air temp sensor?

Hi guys, the climate control issue I posted about a few days ago (changes temp to celcius 24 degrees by itself) has progressed down hill. I now get an ER message, ac is on blower is off. No buttons function on climate control - iow the cant be changed. Led stay lit for auto.
self test protocol does not respond.
This morning I start with in car ambient air sensor. Probably should ask for direction.

How do you clean it? It's not like MAF Sensor = sensitive right?
How do you remove it from the knee bolster pannel? Easy to unbolt fan, but not obvious how to remove air sensor for cleaning.
next step will be check all fuses. Looks likec3 or 4 fuses feed climate control.
Next = hard reset.
thanks, look forward to ideas or instructions.

John

The built-in diagnostic system might help as you're getting an ER message. The procedure and fault codes are all in this link to JagRepair.co at Page 11.

Astromorg, wow this is great. Big thank you!!!

Looks like only 3 conditions will cause the ER display: 1. In car aspirator issues. 2. Coolant temp input sensor error. 3. Solar sensor.

I can't imagine its #2 temp / real guage works fine. Just cleared a chunk of hair and debris from in car aspirator (thanks Graham).

Guess I should start with solar sensor. I remember that the electric service manual provides a range of values to match to (i forget if its ohms or volt).

Ive attached a piece of this document. 1. Does anyone know what the R in "Press face and R" means?

2. It refers me to the PDU at the end of several diagnostics. What does PDU stand for? I forget

thanks John

PDU is Jaguar's Portable Diagnostic Unit - Not available/used by Jaguar these days though some owners have one. I've never seen or used one so I don't know if they're of any value now with so many other scanners available.

The R you ask about is the Rear Screen Heater button. Face is the button with the face level symbol.

You've cleaned the aspirator temp sensor, but have you checked that the aspirator fan itself runs.
