Default How do I remove passenger side air bag.

I'm looking into sending my veneer panels to British Autowood to be refinished but I'm not comfortable removing the airbag panel. I know the battery needs to be removed, but what about the airbag itself. Is it difficult?
Can the car be driven Witt he bag removed? At least to the painters and back? Or is it best to let it sit.

Never done it but the procedure doesn't look to be that difficult.

Driving the car will surely cause an airbag code and it is likely not legal to purposefully disable a safety feature, but shouldn't cause any permanent harm.

Looks simple but what's up with "discard retaining bolts and nuts"? Are they not re usable?

Many of the official procedures call for discarding fasteners. For the most part that is not necessary.

No need to remove the Airbag - just take the veneer panel off.

The problem is to remove the veneer dash panel you need to remove the air bag.
You have to remove the air bag frame to remove the passanger panel safety straps mounting plate behind it.

Ha ha! I was actually going to send it to British Autowood to have it actually re stained but now that I know it's 1200.00, er, maybe not. I have some gloss black wrap on the way so I'm giving that a try.
If it doesn't look good, I'm going back to my brushed titanium wrap with piano black accents.
At least I have my new all black lether wheel installed.
