Default How fast is your convertible top?

Mine is 13 seconds each way. I’m measuring this from top starts moving until stops and not full cycle with latching and window cycling. Why I ask is I understand the fluid can thicken if old and I guess that would slow the motion. Is there a way to test if fluid old?

The proper Pentosin hydraulic fluid supposedly does not degrade. I have never changed it in my wife's 2006 XK8....

Mine takes ~20 seconds from latch start to full stop, so I'd say you're in the ballpark.

For reference see John's video on flush and fill for the hydraulic fluid. Possibly overkill but certainly can't hurt. Part 1 of 2:

UNIVIS is YELLOW and Pentosin CHF 11S is GREEN.

The UNIVIS will flow out of the lines as a yellow 'SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM'.

The 1997-1999 X100 was fitted with UNIVIS from the factory but later replaced with Pentosin if it was properly serviced at the dealer.

Later cars are already filled with Pentosin.
