I have been following JTIS when I went to change shocks and springs and JTIS says to remove upper A arm fulcrum bolt and move aside to manuever shock out.
A member said it can be done without touching the A arms. And I did it
1 remove fender liner
2 remove nuts on top
3 remove shock bolt below and stabilizer link bolt
4 maneuver bottom end out of position
5 clear shock mount from body
6. rotate assembly with top to rear of car
7. remove
Thanks to the pointers in these forums, I took the shock out without taking off the arm a few weeks ago, and I found this video demonstrating how to do it. I've been meaning to share the video here.

My front shock mounts were shot, so I figured to replace the front shocks as well. My indy did the job with OEM Bilstein shock parts sourced from eBay and now have no more from shock noise after replacement. Lovely.
