Default HVAC blower fan micro relay(s) location

Greetings ,

I'm scratchin my head here, all doc's indicate there should be 2 micro relays for the hvac blower fans
located in footwell on drivers side LHD (along trans tunnel) but I'll be damn if I can find 'em on the ol' '98 XK8

Our XJ8 they are behind rearseat panel so its apparent they should exsist since
its basically the same system.

These are not the finned resistors mounted on the blower housings but rather 20A relays wired to each

Any guidance will be most graciously appreciated!!

Cheers

I looked over on Jag Lovers and this same ? had been asked a few times there as well- with no answers

What's up with that ! Where are these flippin things

Cant believe they built these cars w/o relays for the blowers

All the doc's indicate they are wired in...... somewhere.............

I looked through JTIS and there are 2 relays identified in the schematic but not on on the relay location pages.

Not having had to deal with such problems I can only confirm that you have a valid unanswered question.

This is from the 2003 electrical guide so may be useless, or helpful. I'm wondering if they may be further back along the centre console.

Thank you all for the replies, I completely removed drivers knee bolster,
center console, removed center temp controls, radio, pulled carpet , etc no sign of these little buggers

i'm either blind or they really screwed up (guess which it is)

and ALL the cars other relay are within relatively conceivable access -

Zonks!

Now, why did you need to find the relays? I have never heard of a failure associated with them.

Rt side blower completely dead, but I had a spare transistor to try , put it in , still nothing but getting 12v up to fuse box
wired before relay, so before ordering new resistor want to be double dog sure thats what it

And boy they did a great job snookering me by hiding those relays
like that ,

Update - you gotta be a midget (oops little person) to get to these with everything in place but it
can be done and YES one for right blower was shot , I now have a N'oreaster inside my car

If your A/C & Heater seem weak- your down one blower trust me

On the chance pictures of the blower relays may still be available I would like them. My '98 XK8 driver side blower is inop and I'm just starting to troubleshoot it. All I have done so far is check the fuses and remove some trim to try to access it. I looked briefly for the relays but didn't see anything I identified as relays. Looks like a real pain and I can't find anything on how to remove the blower assy. Thanks
