Sad. Is that a piston ring in the first pic?
The PO must have been incandescent when that happened. Do we know if the kid survived?
Seriously, I wonder if there was an underlying problem there. The engine limiter is supposed to help protect against the engine self-destructing.

Told me revving in park. I thought the same thing about the limiter.

Even when limited to 3,000 rpm, revving a cold engine, which I suspect was the case, will usually end badly for the engine, and the kid,
Lubrication is minimal, or less if that痴 possible.
stress and friction is unmanageable.
