Talking I love my car!

Funny thing I've noticed since I got my 2001 XK8 with 24,000 miles on it is that almost everyone that sees her thinks she's a new car. When they ask me what year she is, they look so confused to learn she's 10 years old. Almost makes me not want to tell them. Also people seem to be especially nice to her, yielding to let her ride by so they can take a look at her sexy body. She is a pretty girl and attracts a lot of attention. What lucky guys we are.

Lucky indeed! When I was deciding what my new toy should be I had a definite criteria, Convertible/Modern/Respectable performance. I came very very close to pulling the trigger on a few other cars. Thankfully I stumbled across the XK8 before I did. I did not know anything about Jaguar other than my heart raced whenever I looked at one of these beauties. But I had to be practical so I did my homework (Thanks guys) discovered the pitfalls and narrowed it down to an 03-04 XK8. But I still needed one more push, one deciding factor to make my decision final, and although it was really about the current generation of XK my final decision was based on this segment from the show Top Gear.

YouTube - Top Gear testing a Jaguar XK Covertible and Mercedes SL BMW 650

If you have never seen it enjoy its the best ten minutes you will have today. If you have seen it....Ditto.

I know what you mean, Bass. Whenever anyone finds out that my car is a 2003 they are always surprised. Now that the weather is getting nicer I'm driving the car more. I get at least two or three compliments per week. I've started keeping a pistol in my car to threaten the hot supermodels who regularly try to climb into the car uninvited. I can only fit two in the car at a time, and my wife gets mad when I bring home any more than that.

Lol, very nice, Sam.

When I started looking for my car, I was looking seriously at '04-'06 Pontiac GTOs. While they have great performance, they are so bland they lack soul. So I started looking at some different cars that might fit the bill. I finally found myself looking up XKRs and to my surprise they had finally taken enough of a hit in depreciation that I could reasonably look at them. From there it was on to find one to test drive. If I wasn't in love before, after that first drive it was. It's just an indescribable bliss. Sure the GTO was quicker, but it didn't make me feel anything like what I still feel getting behind the wheel of my XK8.

If I wanted to be that creepy older guy who goes back to his high school to pick up girls (like one of my coworkers does, lol) all I would have to do is pull up and tell them to form a line. I live in a town of less than 5000 and by now most have seen my car, but I still love to watch everyone rubbernecking as I drive by.

Sam, If you go parade style you can fit two in the back with the top down sitting on the boot cover and one in the front. They all must wave and coo. It just kills me neighbor to see that so I only do in my dreams.

You mean 5 right? One in the passenger seat, two in the back seat, two on the boot cover. Don't worry that there isn't much room in the back, supermodels are tiny anyways.

Yesterday I drove my baby non-stop from Las Vegas, Nevada to Tucson, 480 miles with the top down. Absolutely lovely. Usually I stop for a snack or to stretch my legs but I just didn't want to stop driving! Yes, we are lucky to have these vehicles.

I love this video clip. "You see it - you want it!" LOL - very true. I can also identify with the comment about ogling it. I never get tired of driving or looking at it.
