i need a code reader

i saw some on ebay but not sure if it would work. does the 2000 xk8 have a OBD connector or is it something else. please help

Yes, it is OBDII. Most OBDII readers will read the standard P codes, which is fine for most engine probelms, but their are also special codes that only a few readers can understand for the rest of the systems on the car. Check out the code reader thread:
