Ricer or not?

Jaguar, Jaguar XK Series del 2001 Clasificados Online Puerto Rico

The guy has had this car for sale for about 5 months now. I've seen it once on the road and it was impressive, to say the least.

The problem getting any kind of vehicle that just screams "I want to race you to the next red light" can be paraphrased as "your paint job is writing checks your engine can't cash" to borrow from Top Gun.

That was the one thing I always hated when I had my red (naturally) 1995 Corvette. I am not a hot-rodder and really wanted the Corvette because it seemed like one of those things everyone should own once in their lifetime. Moreover I was looking for any color OTHER than red but it was a year end special at $10K below sticker so that's what I ended up with. I found out that having a car like that begs every idiot with a ricemobile to want to drag from red light to red light and I mostly resisted. Also, those ricemobiles have a nasty habit of blowing away all types of more costly exotic vehicles.

The XK8 is no performance car so unless you want to be continually embarrassed by 4-door hopped-up Asian sedans, avoid getting an XK8 with a paint job like that.

Haha! It's happened to me in my black XK8; people tend to have a habit of wanting to race me. However, as the paint on my passenger side door gets worse, that's becoming less and less frequent.

I'm not looking to buy that XK8/R, I'm just wondering if I'm the only one that thinks it looks a little too over the top.

"I wonder if this car performs how it looks?"

I've driven the 52/30 from San Juan to Las Piedras many times. If that Jag was as fast as the owner wanted you to believe, it would run out of island before it could get up to speed, let alone stop before it found saltwater.

Way too much for the street.

Having just watched the Rolex 24 practice sessions, the car does not look over the top...........I wish we were represented this year. Tough to watch AM out there without thinking of a Jaguar entry.

Agreed! As much as I would love to drive a racecar on the street, it does look silly

Tommy..........Yup! Wouldn't you feel a little sheepish rolling down the boulevard in that? It would make an awesome racecar, except maybe white with green graphics (with #44 on the side). One good thing, no leaper. Sorry.

I could handle driving that around,

but I sure would not have spent the $ to do it. If that doesn't have an LSD and other needed items, hmmm, crazy

Hahaha, he probably would run out of island!

However, he may get to some decent speed driving from San Juan to Cabo Rojo...

SJ to Las Piedras is not much of a drive though.
