Default ID a part number?

I am not sure this is the right part number. Anyone else have this part crack? I may just glue it but it is cracked in 3 places.

The parts on the parts list do not look the same.

I have not seen that part damaged before. I have looked in two different parts catalogs and cannot find that piece. I wonder if it is part of the shifter mechanism.

It's called a Gear Selector Illumination Module (LJA6195BF) and it's on the CAN. It is a listen only module.

module = money, no doubt. Better start looking at salvage yards. I too have never seen cracked ones, maybe a scratch, but not split like that.

That part number has been superceded by LJA6195BG.

Retails for $247.50
Parts.com has it for $185.

I have boxes of used ones somewhere in my piles-o-stuff. I used to try to sell them on eBay but nobody wanted them so I packed them up and put them somewhere. I found a few broken ones like you have. Electrically, they work but they look like crap. I used to save them for the parts when I worked at the dealer. Someday I will spend a few weeks and sort through all my boxes of Jaguar parts (part of my retirement!!)

Oh-Oh, new survey needed.......mine just cracked a week ago between the "4" and the "d", going to try to JB Weld and see what happens. Look like the whole module comes out after removing the surround and shift knob. Maybe gluing from underneath will keep it from looking too gross.....Bob, if you dig out any that are in good shape, let me know too.

Bob,

Nearly three years without an answer to this post and then you get three in a day!

Saw this thread when it got bumped. Checked mine and yes, it is cracked at the 6 o'clock position. And to add insult to injury, when I went out tonight the top bulb for the selector illumination went dark.

Uh, how many of those did you have Bob?

Is this a hot climate issue only?

I've never seen one broken in the UK unless something's been dropped on it.

Mine was cracked in the corner on my '97 which spent its life in Indiana/IL. So far so good on my '01.

Do you guys use the left side of the J-Gate? I only started using "4" a couple of months ago, and then it cracked. Coincidence?
