My 98 has finally appreciated in value - and a lot as well!

 

"Priced to sell"

 

Part of the premium price has to be the British flag car cover. C'mon, that's worth a few grand...not to mention the "impossible to find" owner's manual.

 

I'm thinking that at the asking prices - someone has indulged in far too many adult beverages or mind altering chemicals.

 

That's a very high wall. Is the owner being held in some kind of Institution?

Seriously, I wonder if the increasing interest and popularity and marketing by Jaguar over the last few years is having/will have a positive impact on the values of our cars.

I just helped a friend of mine fine a '97 XK8 with only 27k miles for $12,500. I suspect these people have never heard of a Blue book.

I guess they think they have something very special. Charcoal one looks nice at a glance but still high for that year.

 

Notice how there are no bids on the cars. The second one looks like a chrome wheeled twin of my car. It looks like it's in better than new condition. I wish my paint looked that good!

 

An owner not to far from me had a 97 xk8 175,000 miles with a terrible repaint, dirt and runs, bad door module. He put it on E-bay last year for $25,000.00 calling it a show car. Needless to say it never sold. He ran the listing three or four times. You can ask anything you want for them, doesn't mean you'll get it.

 

FYI pictures of a car under lights especially against white backrounds always look ten times better than under natural light

 

I still stand by my comment. My car is losing the clearcoat in the passenger door and front passenger fender. I'm going to have to save a lot of pennies to deal with that.

 

I wonder if the first one really is amarynth. I was just talking to my parts guy today about that color. We had a guy in philly who has two "purple" XJ's when I worked at the old dealership. He knew he had two rare cars and vowed never to sell them. He even put a new engine and trans in one of them. That is about the only thing that may give the first one here an idea that they could ask that much. The second one just seems to be a clean XK. I would be scared of the low miles personally.

 

^ this. You can't judge a value by what someone is asking for it. Do a completed listings search on ebay for any particular vehicle to see what they actually sell for.
