Default I'm hearing a growling noise under the car any iideas?

We just drove 900 miles after buying the car new, it's an XK8 with 122000 miles on it, from the time we left it made a growling noise from under the car. There were no problems while driving home, are there suggestions as to what it might be?

Wrong forum, sadly. Either re-post or hope a mod will move it.

Welcome to the forum conch75,

I've moved your question from S-Type to XK8/XKR forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. Tell us more about the growling noise.

Does it come and go at all? Does it change in pitch or loudness if you accelerate/decelerate? Is it tied to the engine speed?

You may want to tape the sound but the closest thing I can think of is that there is a known problem with the transmission making a growl on shifting that can be fixed by fully replacing the transmission oil (which requires you to replace the transmission pan). That solved it with mine but this is just a wild guess, I'd need to hear the sound and have a better idea when it occurred.

Then again, you may have one of the rare cars with a real Jaguar powering it. Maybe a saucer of milk?
