Default Inspection advice

Hi
I'm still shopping for my first XKR. I've viewed a couple of possibilities close to me but they have not been exactly what I am looking for.
I've seen some cars located at a distance from me that would mean I'd buy sight unseen.
Could anyone advise? Would a generic national inspection company be knowledgeable enough to do a competent inspection? If so, can anyone recommend?
If not, how would I progress? The car I'm considering is at a dealership in IL, a 2005 XKR Coupe with 86000 miles @ 19 grand, its a 2 owner car with no issue listed in the CarFax. Its more mileage than I was hoping, but a very good price, is it too good to be true? and how do I find out?

As always thanks in advance!

Where at in Illinois? If it's close I'd be happy to check it out. I bought mine out of Dallas from E-cars a internet seller He described it perfectly. The dealer had a top rating. Told me if it wasn't as described he'd refund my deposit. I did fly down and drove back 1000 miles. It's a good way to get familiar with you car. One thing about the Texas cars they are pretty much rust free, the underside of mine is very clean. no rust not even on the bolt heads.

I believe that this is the Car:

2005 Jaguar XKR Base, $18,990 - Cars.com

Their Feedback is not very good.

That is a very good price for a 2005 XKR, even one with 86k miles on it. If yore concerned, you could get an inspection done. There are several companies that will do them for about $100. I had it done once when I was looking and got a great report that identified a lot of stuff the dealer neglected to mention. I decided not to but the car based on that inspection. The place I used was:

Alliance Inspection Management
http://www.aimmobileinspections.com/
330 Golden Shore, Suite 400
Long Beach, California 90802
Phone: 1-888-670-5798

I am not associated with this company. I used them just once but I was pleased with the service I got.

Mark

Question Inspection Advice

Thanks for the kind offer RCS! But its way too far from you at 160 odd miles. It is indeed the $18990 car Paul mentioned, what feedback are you referring to Paul?
I'm still uneasy about the mileage, I was really hoping for something with about 30000 less. But it does look very nice, and is a 2 owner car.

I live about 20 miles from there. I could go look at it next Monday or Tuesday, If you like. I bought mine off of Ebay. It was the second one I looked at. The first one was in St. Louis and had too many small problems. Cast me a few hundreds dollars, but that's the chance you take. The one I bought was from a private party in Indianapolis and it was better than described.
Good Luck

The Dealer feedback Rating:

Lucky Motors Reviews - Car Dealer Ratings - cars.com

Still, The car is the most important thing, and a independent inspection should be done.

I live about 75 mi north of the Dealer and would also offer to look at the car, if necessary.

Paul Pavlik, excuse the off topic post but I love your car. My 2002 XKR is Quartz, (gray or silver) and I like it very much but I always loved British Racing Green, especially in a coupe. My X-Type is BRG.

Default Inspection Advice

Hi Chaps

Thanks again for all the input and the really great offers of help on the inspection front.
I'm really a bit uneasy about this car, it is very cheap even for a car with 86000 miles, and the less than glowing feedback from Lucky Motors is a bit off putting and making me feel a little as though this car may be a bit too good to be true... I've not been looking for long and only driven 2 examples as yet, so I might wait a while... I'm sure there are plenty more out there!
