Default Mass airflow sensor wires

Inspected the wires on the MAF sensor but couldn't detect any build up of gunk, although the air filter was pretty dirty. Don't yet have a scanner to check the codes but it feels like it's probably the MAF. Does anyone have experience with this problem and did the sensor look dirty to the naked eye? Will get some cleaner tomorrow and give it a few squirts.

You need to get the codes to see what is going on. However clean the MAFS and replace the filter if they are dirty.

The tiniest of contamination affects the MAF even if you can't see it. Clean it

Thanks. Will try cleaning it first, then if it's a no-go will get a scanner.

You would be surprised how dirty these MAF's can get. I truly thought the colour of my MAF was grey. Turns out to have been just VERY dirty. I think the photos will speak for themselves. Take a look at my story Franks XKR Story. - Page 38 item 380.

Two things.

1. NEVER touch your MAF.
2. Clean with a MAF cleaner and nothing else.

Easy to do and certainly worth doing.
