Default Interior boot open button and remote button don't work

Hi all.

The interior boot open button and remote button don't work. It's not in valet mode as when it is in valet mode and I press the release button the display tells me off.
I've put a voltmeter on the connector and there's zero volts when the button is pressed. I've checked the fuses in the boot and the drivers side.

Any other idea?

Thanks and happy Friday to you all.

Have you tried using the key to open the boot ? This resets (cancels) the valet mode, just in case it is in effect whether or not you have pressed the valet button.

Just a hunch Looops, as your problem is to do with the electrical side of the operation, look at the loom that goes from the boot to the boot lid. You may have a broken wire in that part.

Does the button on the boot lid work or not?

I can't remember if there is a relay in the boot or not, but may also be worth a check.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Thanks for the idea but this model doesn't have a boot button. The actuator is being the rear light so no wiring to the boot lid at all.

Ok Looops, attached is the electrical diagram for your car, check the connections to the security module and go from there.

Thanks for that. Either there's a break in the orange wire from the control module or there's some logic problem stopping it energising.

Do you get a message "Boot open"? That happened to mine, 97 XK8 and it was a faulty micro switch. Changed it and problem resolved.

Only when the boot is actually open so not that. Thanks for the idea though.
