Is the instrument panel cluster replaceable without any programming? I have a 1999 XK8 and a 99 used cluster. Is it plug and play? Thanks for any advice!

 

The 4.0 cars (non-VID block cars) don't need any configuration for the INSTPK swap.

The mileage displayed will follow the INSTPK that is installed.

The AJ26 and AJ27 INSTPKs are different.
The best swap would be a same part number AND VCATS SUFFIX.

 

Thanks for your reply. I have a 99 XK8 and the donor car is a 99 but I don’t have the VIN number for the donor car. Would the AJ26 engine be unique to the model year with both being 99 year models? The lcd display has pixelated in my car and I was hoping just to swap instrument panels. I know the odometer reading will be different, but that is of no concern. Thanks again for your help

 

The 1999 MY XKs (or XJs) will be AJ27 IF they are both Normally Aspirated.

The 1999 SuperCharged will be AJ26. (2000 MY was the first year for SuperCharged XK in North America and they are AJ27)
