J gate causing restricted performance

J gate causing restricted performance
2000 XKR 70k. The symptoms I am having don't seem to match any of the threads I can find on this. I think selecting 4 is the only thing that causes it. I do not notice any obvious mechanical issues. Sports mode and the rest of the J gate function properly. I do not think it has had the TSB 303-49 reflash done, maybe that is the problem.
Off the line I can go 2-3-D without any issue, but if I go 2-3-4 it goes into restricted. I am about to flush the fluid, replace the filter and gasket, and throw the blue top solenoids in. I just want to make sure that there is nothing I can do to fix this from the bottom while I am in there; I don't want to have to go back in a second time. I am thinking it might be one of the switches or something else that would not be repairable from underneath.

Have you removed the selector lever illumination module for inspection?????
There is a micro-switch to differentiate between D and 4 because the cable does NOT move the gearbox lever or the dual linear switch.
Either the micro-switch is faulty/detached or the plastic rotating cam plate is broken/detached.
