Default Jaguar Classic’s first facility in the U.S.

Looks like we will have one more arrow in the quiver if needed to keep these running.

"The new facility, also Jaguar Land Rover Classic’s first facility outside of Europe, will provide access to a range of authentic Jaguar and Land Rover Classic cars, services, parts and experiences. The facility will also include a state-of-the-art 42-bay workshop for comprehensive vehicle health checks, service and repairs for all Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles out of production for a decade or more."

Jaguar will need 75 people to make hand-crafted Land Rover Classic in new Savannah facility - News - Savannah Morning News - Savannah, GA

It will be interesting to see what their rates will be. I recommend sitting down before they are quoted to you....

I see that the workers would be some what highly skilled, but in what area of specific skills? There wasn't much or any technology in classic cars, other than what was in James Bond movies. Uhm, this is interesting.

I'm in Southeastern Canada, Close enough? I'd be up for a Peaches, Pecan, and Peanut Peregrination with a side of Jaguar.

Almost a 6-hour drive straight up I-95 from me. I can make that (but will the car?)

sounds like a fun trip, as I just moved to NC and use to live in Savannah, well Tybee Island, as a kid would be a great road trip and chance to meet folks.

Modern or not, it was "high tech" for the time they were built and one of the concerns is that as the old guys that knew how they were made and repaired die off, that the knowledge and skills are not being passed on. And there's some serious skills involved. Believe it not, you can study historic automotive technology in college and get a degree in it. https://www.mcpherson.edu/autorestoration/ Jay Leno sponsors scholarships and the graduates can go on to work in places like this Jaguar facility. I just wish I'd known about the upper crust classic car world when I was in high school but I was brainwashed that the only way to get ahead in life was to work in an office wearing a suit as a manager or professional of some kind. Growing up, I thought restoring classic cars was just something people did as a hobby and that mechanics and painters and upholsterers and platers and such were uneducated people who did physical labor in hot, dirty shops and didn't make much money. Back then there was no satellite TV, I lived far from any concours car show, didn't subscribe to the right magazines I guess and so I had no idea. I only wish I had known back then as if I had it to do over again, that's what I'd like to do for a living.

Sounds like there may be a saving grace for these old Jags after all. Cool Deal.

As long as I can get to where I've got enough to live on comfortably, then I could afford to start over just sweeping up the shop and work enough to pay for my own hobby.
