Default Jaguar Racing won the 2021 Diriyah Formula E

Guys,

Sorry I haven’t been around much but I’ve been busy in Saudi Arabia preparing for the 2021 Formula E event. I started in Oct 2020 and the Formula E race is a road Track circuit in a historical part of Riyadh, so I had a lot to do to get the roads ready for the race.

I was rooting for Jaguar Racing and pleasantly pleased they won the Day 2 event!

Pics below

Temporary portal structure at the Flagpole roundabout

There are You tube videos of the event. The strangest thing is the noise, or lack of noise. More a “Whizzzz” than a Vroom.

Site of crash. Check out the tyre marks on the ground

Also the cars BHP are capped a max 250kW and top speeds limited by the track layout. So driver ability seems to be the main difference between teams.

That's cool - what's your role in Formula E?

Default Small (ish) job here

Blade Runner 919,

My role, as a construction manager, was the upgrade of the existing road network, plus landscape beautification in preparation of the race. It's a beautiful historical setting, as the Diriyah area is the historical home of the Saudi Royal Family. The location even has a Unesco World Heritage site. Pic below.

Here's a Youtube link to the race.

I too live in a city with a Unesco World Heritage site (Durham Cathedral and Castle). Unfortunately we don't even have the existing road network maintained let alone upgraded and they definitely don't encourage Jaguar drivers to go quickly around here.
