Also check out the Frequently Asked Question thread in our XK8 section that has a ton of useful links to other threads and some off site resources. Check out the links to the convertible top, you're needing to add hydraulic fluid is worrying me. Its a sealed system, and if you're losing it, its leaking somewhere, either the top latch, or at the rams/pistons that actually do the work on the top lowering and raising. Last time I heard a post about checking their fluid, about a week later, the owner got the 'green shower' and had to replace all the hoses.

Hope you fair better!
what trims are available with jaguar xk ?

But I spotted your post on MPC regarding the frustrating "Navigation DVD" issue -- which provided a link to this site -- and I was unable to open your attached PDF file in message #49. So I joined the Forum, and still couldn't open anything. It was while browsing that I discovered Matt's reminder to new members.

Don't know if I'll ever get to the requisite ten posts in order to obtain "permission," considering my inactivity of late. However, I still try to stay informed, and follow select topics.

Hello to all who remember me from elsewhere. You're in my thoughts, even though I'm no longer an active participant.

The issue was that Jaguar & NavTecq are not making updated for the 1997 – 2007 GPS Navigation systems.

Do they cover TSB as warrantee fixes (assuming the car is past the warrantee period)?

As a general rule, no, unless a safety recall is also involved. That is not to say there might not be the rare negotiated exception.

If TSB 303-58 for the TB is what you are looking for it only covers 1999 to 2001 MY cars

thanks.
Maybe the rules for new members should be written as simple as you state them here. I was so confused by all the language I just put it off. Seems siple enough when stated as 10 post and 3 days as a minimum. Got It! If this isn't correct let me hear it again. Thanks

Wow! Too bad TSB 303-30 about tensioner upgrades with customer complaints, wasn't "still" active. I assume that the factory upgraded those who complained and let the rest be "blissfully" unaware. However, it would be way cool if they would replace mine now...I'M COMPLAINING ALREADY!!!

Default Convertible Top Needs Helping Hand

I have a 2004 XK8 Convertible. The top sometimes will not raise past the high point of travel unless I give it a helping hand. When I do not give it help, sometimes there is a beep from the control system and then the top subsides. ALso sometimes it takes so long to latch or unlatch that I give it a hand.
I have read the TSB posted and other related threads. The fluid level in the reservoir is above the marks when the top is down - is this correct?
The valve handle on the pump body is firmly closed.
As it is a 2004 model I assume that it does not have the older fluid that caused gel problems.
Any thoughts on remedies?

Default TSB for head rest inop

Fuse charts, convertible top, trasmission control module and tensioners as advised by Test point - many thanks

Would the TSB regarding the headrest also apply to a 2001 XK8? I have 2 that are not working and am a bit hesitant to take the seat apart without knowing what i'm getting into.

Thanks
