Default Just passed 333333km and already a problem

Have passed 333.333 km, and only just after the warranty period already get an issue.

My backlight of the airco unit isn’t working anymore, so am pretty annoyed that this should fail so quickly after only 12 years. Am preparing a letter to Jaguar about this quality issue LoL.

Its been a very reliable car for me in these years, although I had my share of some of the known issues, I am very very pleased!

Does anyone know if the backlight can be fixed, or do you need a new unit?

Congratulations. A real testimate to how dependable (and fun) these cars can be.

Seems like the answer is yes:

Providing you are comfortable taking things apart that is...

Yes, but how many parts on that car have been untouched over the years?

Well obviously some as you can see in my vehicle description, but even then considering the extra load I put on them, I can’t be any less pleased.

I am hoping to be fortunate enough to go the 444.444km, as not many cars give me this enjoyment of the ride in so many ways. Maintenance so far has also been lower than the depreciation of any new car, but it also helps that I do everything myself of course.

And of course, you enjoy doing the work anyways. So, it's a double treat!

Very impressive distance. So typical something should go wrong just when you're out of warranty.

There's several small replaceable bulbs in the Aircon Control Panel. They are blue or green depending on position.

When I had the illumination fail on my 2000 XK8, I found it easier to take the Aircon Control Panel out and go to the dealer Parts Department and match up bulb requirements there. If I recall correctly, it was three out of something like nine bulbs blown.

Have just done the job today, was easy with the video instructions from Sam.

Also got a chance to really clean everything, and am glad all is working fine now again.

Thanks for the tips, hope the bulbs last another 333.333 km for the costs of them ;-)

(PS am now on 376.000)
