hi guys, recently my restricted performane warning light has been coming on. sometimes there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the way the engine is running and other times it runs rough. usually when you restart all is well then intermittently the light will come on. just wondered if anyone out there has experienced this type of problem and what it might be any input would be greatly appreciated

 

Time to get the codes read.

Warning lights and error codes may seem like a nuisance at times but they do provide valuable information and advance warning of potential issues.

If you don't have access to a scantool, Autozone or similar can read them for you.

Ask for the actual codes (not the descriptions) and post them back here for advice on what they mean and any recommended action.

thanks graham, i took your advice and went to my buddy's garage to have the codes read. the codes were so messed up that just about every fault was activated. one thing stood out misfire #4 cylinder. that particular model states that each side of the engine has cylinders 1 thru 4 (according to all data) all seemed fine on the driver side in terms of coils and plugs. however, on the passenger side every coil pack had a heavy coating of corrosion. i removed the little spriong and steel wooled all the contactors and boom problem solved it runs the nuts. thanks again graham steve
