Default Little hard plastic coolant lines around the engine

Is there any reason I shouldn't replace all the little hard plastic coolant lines in the engine bay with heater hose that has the same inside diameter? The plastic is getting brittle, and I'm surprised it's lasted this long! I can probably find some hard plastic or copper tubes if there's a reason for it, but it seems like switching to all rubber would be the easiest way to go unless there's something I don't know about?

I have replaced part of mine with fuel hose, not a problem.

The only redeeming quality of the plastic hoses and the associated fasteners is their original look. Mine appear to be in excellent condition.

Nevertheless I inspect all the visible plastic and rubber hoses on practically a daily basis for any sign of leaks or swelling.

Keeping fingers crossed I can make it thru the winter without any garage time beyond an oil change or two.

FWIW, I also replace that hard line with a hose "from the garage" at some point. Over time, it turned brittle and leaky. Being cooling-related, I figured it could leave me stranded if it failed, so I caved and ended up buying a factory part again for lack of imagination.

Good idea. I used 5/16" fuel hose with a brass tee and it went well. The only small plastic line I didn't replace was the line from the little black tank to the "atmospheric" tank in the right wheel well, because I wasn't taking that part of the car apart at this time, but when I do I'll get that one, too.
