Pretty car. I love that colour. Bit of interior TLC on the leather and probably the usuals but I'd be tempted, too.
The XJ it's parked next to looks just like my old X300; wish I'd kept it now.
Nice. Decklid appear to be from a later car, so it may have been wrecked. Front suspension is low, so it needs a complete rebuild. "new tires" is always the tell on this.
No mention of chain tensioners... worrying.
Beautiful car. Add $2K to the price the stuff that will likely need fixing in the first year.
Yeah, it'd be nice to snag the license plate. Not to shoot myself in the foot, but be warned about the light color dashboard, it reflects into the windshield on bright days, wish that was different on mine. Sure wish the gave a photo of the dash, does it have Trac Control option or standard DSC? (Look for trac off button). Is it premium stereo ? Does it have heated seats? I wouldn't want to be without them in a convertible in NYCity area. See drivers seat wear, mine was like that 6months ago, need new leather now.
I realize I'm being picky given the price, but these things would be important to me.
Will the XK8 registration stay with the vehicle in NY or will the new owner have to re-register?
Graham
Generally in the US you have to pay yearly for vanity plates (or can rent one for 2, 4 or 10 years). All states are a little different. I'm sure the new owner can use the "XK8" plates if he pays NY state the yearly fee for them.
That was a nice looking car. A long term owner is a good thing, he paid a lot for it when he bought it, and has probably kept it up. He would probably have a good service history. That is really low mileage so it is possible that he never upgraded the tensioners. I've seen fairly good Xk8s go for 3,500 bucks or less. Those are usually going to be a pig in a poke. Lots of thrashed drivers out here. If you are going to buy an older Jag, it should be beautiful as well as well maintained. Still these are old, affordable cars, (I won't call them cheap!). So I would take a chance on a car that looked great, and ran great, even without the full history.
Leather seats look well worn. Why is there a lead going in to the boot/trunk? Battery problems? I also not one photo gave you a close up picture of the potential rust spots. No photos of engine bay? Obviously purely designed to sell and not inform.
My advice is to take someone local with you who already has a Jag to look over it for you. They should quickly spot stuff that your "I want one" eyes will miss.
If you go to take a look make sure the head rests work. Ask about tensioners etc Check rear corners, bumpers/fenders for rust.

I wish I would have seen this post earlier. I would have bought it.
Changing the secondary tensioners isn't a big deal. I skinned a knuckle and smashed a finger but they healed.
