To Lock the doors ... or not
Do we know if it makes a difference to the battery drain if, while the car is sat in the garage, the doors are locked or not?

I tested it on my XJ8 some years ago after reading about this as I was curious. I don't recall the exact change in amperage draw now, its been too long, but the number went down a good bit within a few seconds of locking the doors. I was using a budget brand meter that I later decided was a piece of junk so I can't vouch for its accuracy even if I did remember the exact number. But it seemed to confirm the posts I'd read and I would assume the XK8 has the same electrical systems involved.
Thank you for the responses, I had always left my car unlocked in the garage and recently a friend told me he had read it needs to be locked to enter sleep mode as George05 points out.
I try to drive it often enough for it not to need charging but when I do get caught out it is usually around 10 days before its too low to start up ... I always test it by trying to open the boot with the button ... if that fails I know I need to connect the charger.
When you say double click George .... is that simply pressing the remote lock twice?
Thank you again
