Default Looking for advice on Supercharger upgrade on my XKR

I'm thinking about upgrading the pulley on my supercharger and was wondering if anyone has had it done and how noticeable is the difference

Have you looked at the twin screw thread?

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/private-sale-trade-buy-classifieds-9/twin-screw-kit-ajv8-engines-100-more-than-200-extra-hp-42059/

That is the way to boost the power on an XKR

I don't think it's a cheap option, but it would be fun.

Here is a thread on the Supercharger pulley upgrade, but it sounds pretty complicated as a DIY.

It is around $10K to do this last I checked. The next issue is to get a posi rear end as you'll just fry a tire on takeoff if you aren't careful. The difficulty for a lot of folks that look at this is you end up dropping about what the car is worth into the upgrade. And you end up with a highly modified engine that only a few people know how to work on. I'd suggest looking into an LS1 swap instead. A ton easier to upgrade that engine and a ton more stuff that both works on it and people that know how to fix it. I'd have done that myself but the existing swap kit doesn't work with 2004s... Touch bases with Jaguar Specialties.

Hi I just wanted to know if anyone has just had the simple lower pulley upgrade done and has noticed any difference on takeoff.

I wouldn't like to be on the outside lane at the traffic lights with an Audio A3 at my side. could be embarrassing.

I've been quoted £500 supplied and fitted and is it worth it.

To answer your question.... It all depends on what shape your current SC is in. I've done the oversized lower crank pulley on a customers car and then they came back a month later and done the smallest SC pulley along with reprogramed ECU. Then another month later came back with a rattling SC. I'm not gonna lie, the extra power was intoxicating, but all the rpm's that SC went thru was more than it could handle. The moral of the story is leave it alone or put retarded money in it for the upgraded SC.

Whether or not you do a supercharger upgrade, you still need a few thousand on hand in case something goes wrong on the car, but £500 is one month's payment on a decent new car, so may well be worth spending.

BTW how many Skoda Octavias (albeit with an Audi badge) can out-accelerate an XKR in the first place?
