Default Lost Car Keys... RESOLVED

The good news is: I have a spare key. The bad news; It's in the car. Soooo - is there such a thing as a 'master key' that will unlock the door that my local Jag Dealer has? Or do I have to break the window? And can I buy a replacement remote fob on eBay and have the Jag Dealer program it to work with my car?
Thanks in advance for the reply...

I'd say reach out to the dealer and, with the VIN and some form of proof of ownership, either have them make you a mechanical key (no need to program it), or give you the 8-cut tibbe code so you can have a key made. You could bypass that step with a good quality picture of the key, in the unlikely event you have that.

Other option is to reach out to an emergency mobile locksmith to get the door open for you. It will likely involve either reaching the door lever by fishing some form of a hook tool around the glass, or down in the door, just like in the movies.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

A coat hanger with a hook on the end usually works to reach the door lever just be careful not to damage the rubber window seal.
I manage to do this at least once a month with my work truck, usually running with my cell phone inside. I got a key cut last year
by carlocksandkeys on ebay and it works great.

A locksmith will open it up in a few seconds. Just don't let that worry you for the rest of your life!!

Once I locked keys in my xk8. Called AAA, guy I tow truck slipped a deflated rubber bladder between rear edge supplied air to bladder (yes my heart stopped!) And formed a nice sized gap. Just took a dowel or something, aimed for unlock button- problem solved.
Do you have triple A?

Thanks all! Problem solved! I had an id tag on the same keychain as the car keys/remote. Just got back from picking them up from the nice person who found them, who called me.
Whew! I was not looking forward to the process of having a new key made + obtaining/programming new remote.
