Hi all,
My problem child 4.0 lt XK8 is periodically displaying a Low Brake Fluid Warning message. The reservoir is full.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
regards
Al
The level indication is straightforward and comprises:
1. sensor in the reservoir
2. harness
3. warning lamp
It is most likely to be a faulty sensor but I would definitely eliminate a harness or harness connector fault first by checking continuity.
The reservoir P/N is JLM12082 which Jaguar Classic Parts (Jaguar Land Rover) show it as currently available and S N G Barratt for example show it as in stock at $361.36 https://www.sngbarratt.com/us/#!/Eng...2FMexico%2FUSA
In addition, you would need 2 seals (JLM12184) at $6.64 each.
The reservoir is secured to the master cylinder with a pin through the two "legs" and the master cylinder body.
That's a lot more than I was expecting. COOLANT level warning faults are a regular on the forums but BRAKE fluid level warning faults are rarely reported. If it proves to be the sensor then a used reservoir or reservoir/master cylinder assembly has to be a good bet.

I also had the same problem that was resolved with an ABS repair. I tried to do the repair myself, but did send it out for repair. Worth the money to send it out ($65 on Ebay).
You can check the continuity of the signal coming from the Brake Fluid reservoir by unplugging the large connector on the ABS module and testing continuity between two pins (1 and 13). Switch should be closed when brake fluid level is good ( continuity between the pins). JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource Look for ABS Testing and Check list by G Emmerson
