Talking Low coolant light is OFF...

I've been driving with the low coolant light on for...oh...about two years now. I just kept an eye on the level. I finally (finally?) got tired of the red light glaring at me so I went to PartGeeks.com and bought a new recovery tank for around $50.00.
The new tank arrived and I compared the new to the original and it was all identical (WOO-HOO!). I removed the old and the only difference was the new one rattled. Turns out my float inside the old one had sunk and gotten stuck on the bottom of the tank. How? Who knows, all I care about is the red light...is OFF...

Default We all do things to just turn off warnings on the dash

Well done...after 2 years of being annoyed at the dash warning. How many times did you check the coolant level during this time?

I wander what else others have done to fix an annoying warning message.

For me, I’m even thinking of changing my CATS .... and we don’t have CA Smog type checks in Bahrain. I wonder if it’s worth the effort, just for piece of mind.

I checked the coolant level every time the heater would blow cool air going around a corner. Odd, I know, but hey....I'm a patient guy.

I fixed the float problem on my '97 by using a foam ring under the float. It has been working for 7 yrs.

welcome to Gilligans Island. If I ever take a 3 hour cruise on the SS Minnow, I hope you are there too.

Yours is very very different from a 99. The float in a 99 is off to the end, you can't see it and you can barely touch it with your finger. No room to shine a flashlight in there at the same time as your finger or any other hand held tool...

The same tank is used from '97 to '06 for non supercharged.
