Default Lowering Complete

I had the Mina REAR Lowering Springs installed today at Jenkins Volvo-Jaguar (Milwaukee, Wi) and the results are very Satisfactory.

The height of the Rear Arch to Ground is now identical to the front dimension. The rear sits about 1.25" Lower than before.

The clearance between the top of the Tire and the Arch is actually 1/4" less at the Rear than at the Front now (but, of course, the rear tire is slightly greater in diameter than the Front).

The Ride Stiffness is Unchanged. The Mina Springs are "Progressive" and will stiffen at High Vehicle Loads.

Cost: Mina Rear (only) Springs. $250 inc. Shipping.
Labor: 4hr @ $115/hr----------- $460.
Total:----------------------------- $710

Looks right. I just lowered my rear. You should have put a pop can under the body front and back , before and after to get any idea how much it was lowered. New springs may sag a little as too.

If only I could find some cheap springs... but that's not high on my to-do list yet.

The before shot shows just how high US XKs ride. I may be wrong, but I think European models are more like the after shot straight out of the factory. Definitely a must-do mod.

All XKs look like they are up on stilts, it was only the later cars that looked a little lower, Jaguar never bothered doing anything about it, from what I understand it so the US guys can fit snow chains easier. It was one reason why Jaguar introduced CATS suspension, and what a PITA that is!

I lower XKs all the time, I have 2 in shop at moment I am doing, always a mod I would recommend to have done if only for appearance sake.

Mine came off a Silverstone. Same hight as the Mina's the guy replaced them with.
I only put on the rears. I have a fully lowered Contour SVT and did want to deal with dragging the front end. It makes the car look level.

Old thread but I'm finishing my Arden kit this weekend and HAVE to lower the back. It actually makes the rear look even higher!! Actually the space between wheel and arch looks larger.
I assume that lowering the rear only will also lift the nose by the same amount, not the tire to arch space, just the nose. Believe me that's not an issue if it does due to the low front air dam addition. I actually hope it does!!

Lowering the Rear will not change the Front.

Edit: Actually, lowering the Rear will "Pivot" the Front up by a Very Small amount.

Hey, I'll take any pivot!! I've, in the first day, scraped the bottom of the front spoiler in my own driveway. Luckily underneath so it doesn't show. I've a lot of relearning how to drive it now to do!!
But who cares!! He's fierce!

I was kinda thinking the same thing as Weisberg: Handling. Lowering just the rear looks fabulous, but a few new variables have been introduced.

I'm curious to see if you experience any front-end float at high speeds (or any sensation of float whatever).

Damn nice looking car, Paul.
