Default Lumbar support adjustment function

I noticed something on my machine, the lumbar support is inflating and you do hear the pump but if I request deflate all I hear is a relay click. I thought that the driver side was faulty, but when I reached over to
the passenger side the same action occurs.

What could be amiss? A deflate solenoid as described in the JTIS? Or could this be a fuse or cable to the seat back issue? Driver seat was removed and resoldered to the support rail recently. All other functions work.

Thank you...

Mike

Is it deflating when you push the switch in and hear the click? With your back against the seat back, it should provide the pressure to force the air back out with the switch held the opposite way. It's not very fast, the air kind of creeps out.

Resurrecting this older thread...My drivers seat lumber support will not deflate. Reading above, is there really a deflate solenoid? Anything else I should look for?

If the car hasn't been driven for a stretch and it new to you,,, I would say keep trying the button. See if you can feel the tension in the bladder give. I'm sure there is a valve release of some sort. The alternative... It will depend on the model year and the seat design you have, but it ain't fun no matter what.

You will have to (drop the top if convertible), adjust the front seats alllll the way forward and climb into the back seat. On my car, 2004 and 2002 the pump and it wiring is affixed/zip tied in the void in the back of the seat. No fun.

There is a YouTube video of a great contributor to this forum that shows (his type) seat disassembly and partial upholstery removal to get to the area where the pump is. Search "JAGUAR XK8 XKR HEADREST FIX" or some combination of words like that. You'll find it.

I had to do that this past weekend to fix my non functioning headrests - both. It's a patience tester for sure.
