Massive Oil Leak 2001 XK8
Mine doesn't have one and I'm not sorry given DD's recent experience.

Maybe it was different for the US / North American market, but I am 100% sure my oil cooler is original fitment. Part number MJA7446AB. The crimp just after "6" came apart at 70 mph and I now have a seized engine.

the link you referenced doesnt indicate whether the oil cooler parts were on both the XKR & XK-8, or just one of them.
However, does it really matter that much when the cooler was installed in your situation ? As mentioned several times on this forum, the oil cooler hoses are just another item that should be replaced as a matter of maintenance, just like the cam chain tensioners.
In all likelihood the damage will not require a new block, just rings, Pistons, bearings throughout, and maybe a new crankshaft.
It could be a lot worse. Bet of luck with the repairs.

I'm going for a replacement used engine from what we call a "breaker" over here.
No - I agree it doesn't matter at all - just that in the light of my recent experience, I wish I had replaced my pipes, and as far as the European / British market is concerned, I'm fairly sure it was an original fitment and worth checking. Seems strange, as places like Arizona and California have much higher average temperatures than here in the UK where the sun only shines on alternate days in July !! :-)

My 2004 has an oil cooler and I replaced all four lines over last winter. I have read the TSB and comments on this forum and it seemed prudent for a 15 year old car. One was just starting to 'weep' at the connection. It was actually not an atrocious job, even for a chap with arthritic fingers and assorted bits of replacement metal joints
