Michael, I noticed your worked on thread. My center vent point all wichway like yours did , would like to fix them. Could you please tell us about your recent job to successfully fix yours?

I've never been on there so don't know what to expect. Thanks, John

Hi John,
I'll gladly post up what I did. I did take some pictures with a view to doing a write-up, but it was a bit of a mission (I do go off on one occasionally - probably the OCD) that I didn't think many would find of value.

Give me a day or two to collate everything.

Hope the new arrival is settling in well.

Best wishes,
Mike

Thanks Mike, we look forward to it. The new puppy's getting used to the convertible, she's wonderful. John

i tried to fix mine, but it was maddening, ended up buying another from an XK8 being parted out on Ebay for $40.

Yes - it was a fiddly job. Only reason I didn't go the replacement route is that they've all got the same design 'fault', thus they will all ultimately fail

$40 was a good price as most I've seen are double or more.

John, still working on the write up, but I've missed a picture of an important part so I'll have to improvise.

Default Centre dash vent

Michaelh,
I am also looking foreword to your "how to post", particularly how to get the vent out......got the wood trim facia off O/K when I installed a Garmin GPS in place of the original Alpine unit but could not see how to get the vent out

Hi GBCat,
The centre vent assembly just pulls out. You should be able to get your fingers at either end and wiggle it forward once the veneer panel is out of the way.

Johnken has kindly agreed to proof-read the write up for me. He's normally about the forum, but I haven't been able to catch him over the last few days.

Mine is that way and would appreciate your work on a solution.
