Default mid muffler delete

I had this done today after hearing reports here that it was a good not too aggressive option.

I had it booked in for a 1 to 2 hour job at a local custom exhaust fabricator and agreed a price of £120, in the end it took close to 4 hours but they honoured the price.

They had a few issues getting the bend angles right and then TIGing in the restricted area. As I plan to take off the rear subframe over the winter they suggested I drop of that section for a detailed inspection as they offer a lifetime guarantee on their work.

I was very please with their service, Pipedynamics in Leven.

The sound increase appears under mid to heavy throttle at speeds below 60 or so, idle and constant speed are pretty much unchanged, heavy throttle at higher speeds seem little changed, so far I have only tried with the top down.

Will be interesting to hear with the top up tomorrow.

and yes I know my car is rusty, I will be dealing with the rear subframe, suspension and floor pan over the winter.

The over the axle area is awful on these cars. I currently have the mid and rear mufflers removed (you removed the mid) My car sounds great untill I really get on it. THEN ITS LOUD. I plan on redoing soon. And I hav esome rust on that rear bottom sub frame as well.

RD I did the same and while I'm pleased with the sound I'd like just a little more so at some point I plan to remove the center muffler and replace with an H pipe also.

We drove to work this morning with the top up and the radio on, Kim said she could not hear any difference at all, I could because I was listening for it and knew what I was listening for, but only just. Kim was driving and didn't really "give it any", at any point on the journey. After dropping her off and opening the window I could hear the difference much more clearly.

So in conclusion I would say the mod give a good smile factor with the roof down but little change with the roof up, so wouldn't go down this route with a coupe.

Kim didn't want anything to loud so this will probably be as far as we go, at least for the time being.
