More XK8 "Wood" trim
This was a boring weekend. All my projects were done and, on Saturday, I received a replacement interior door handle plastic piece from e-bay. The problem was that it was the wrong color from the pictures.....what to do?
So, I used an old skill called trompe l'oeil. This is the art of painting an object to look like it is made of something else in this case. I took the two door pieces, the seatbelt covers -all 4 of them, and made them look like the factory dash finish.
I like the look - not too over the top and tasteful.

Thats what I like about this site, the word "tasteful" don't come up often but in this case it fits perfect! Very nicely done! I want to do mine also but I'm thinking carbon fiber.

Very nicely done. Usually my projects when I get bored either end up worse than when I started or somewhere near a first aid kit.
The extra accent pieces truly blend in well and compliment vs. overpower. This was one fine project sir.

Nice accent, and really does look like wood.
Impressive work, and far more artistic that I could ever attempt. I bet you could sell those.

Tomorrow I will try to post instructions and materials on how to do this. It is actually very simple. Just patience. I have no interest in making them..but I am just fine showing everyone how to do it.
Always thought we needed just a little more wood spread around the car.
Very nice looking. I always that that the door handles at least should have been wood to match the dash and was once looking to buy some in wood but the price was more than I wanted to spend. Are the pieces you did hydrodipped or something?
